Love, In Itself I know I'm going out on a limb on this one (like I never do ;-) heh )…This is arguably the most underrated single DM has released. I think the band made the most out the release of a song that they probably were pessimistic with their chances. It was definitely a gutsy call to release it, especially considering that "Told You So" was on the same album. 12 BONG 4 features the obligatory extended 12" mix numbered 3 and an outstanding acoustic version numbered 4. Love in Itself 4 gives a great insight into how Mart wrote the song as well as the production that went into the final version. If you're scoring at home, number 2 is the single edit and the unnumbered version is the album version.

The true gem of the release actually lies in its B-Side: the subtle industrial powerhouse "Fools". Alan's opus is easily one of the best B-sides ever released from the band. If you've never heard it, trust me, it alone is worth buying this single. You'll never forget that clapping, echoed "Hey" that sounds throughout the song.

I take that back, there's another true gem: L12 BONG 4. The final part of the limited edition 12" trilogy saves the best live tracks for last. Two words: Shout and Photographic. These two were the highlights of the 1982 tour. You can just hear how they brought it every night even back in 1982. Very good stuff! Try finding it ;-)
