Singles DiscographyGoodnight LoversChartsGermany (15) Notes
Still dreaming, this time the band raised the ante by not only releasing another underdeveloped album track, but releasing one that had no business being recorded in the way it was. Imagine if "What Your Name?" or "Get Right With Me" were released? Well imagine no further because this is exactly what happened when they decided to release "Goodnight Lovers." BONG 33 confirmed once and for all that this crop of Martin's songwriting corn had gone rotten on arrival. At first, it appeared the songs were merely poorly produced, but when songs like this made the album, it was painfully apparent that the writing and developing efforts given to previous releases were just not there. Not to mention around this part of the nightmare, during their European leg of the tour, they decided to leave off "I Feel Loved" from their setlists. This was all but a total admission of failure from the band. Crap song, crap video, yada yada yada, but this time they put on a mix of "The Dead of Night". By now it was too little too late as I was drenched in thoughts of questioning my fandom. I rarely expect a hit from them given the dynamics of the music industry, but at least show up if you're going to release something. Don't jake it like this. One more nightmare to endure until the light at the end of the tunnel appears… UK Releases
