Policy of Truth "Never Again - Is What You Swore - The Time Before!"

The lads were spitting fire in 1990. BONG 19 became DM's third consecutive smash of the Violator campaign. Historically, the band have been lucky just to get one hit off an album, so getting three was a major deal. Anton's red and yellow untrustworthy tart cover art contributions are as memorable as the mixes contained within. Francois Kervorkian comes through with two outstanding mixes, Capitol Mix and Beat Box Mix, along with Pavlov's Dub which seems to incorporate elements of both of the aforementioned mixes. The Capitol mix is a deep, grooving house mix that's less rocky than the Beat Box mix, which is a true extended mix that's given some unique touches. "Kaleid" is the third instrumental B-Side of the campaign. Unlike the other two, "Kaleid" is hard, fast, and heavily arpreggiated. It is also given two excellent additional remix treatments. The incomporable and vastly underated KLF reconstruct the truth nicely with their Trancentral Mix. KLF were also spitting fire as they experienced massive success on their own in 1990 with "The White Room" and their Stadium House Trilogy of "3AM Eternal", "What Time Is Love", and "Last Train to Trancentral". Later on into the 90's, they would delete their backcatalogue and dissolve KLF by burning 1 million pounds in front of the British media. Oh well.

For the quintessential Policy of Truth release, look no further than L12 BONG 19, the band's first gatefold 12" release. The cover features a red tart on an abstract, greenish background. The glossy gatefold opens up to a larger portrait of said tart along with a gallery of smaller shots that were featured on other formats.

The video features the band walking through New York City being suckered by two unfaithful tarts who appear to be busted by Dave at the end of the video. It's a well-paced storyboard video from Anton. But for those of you who crave World Violation Tour footage, the next one will feed the need nicely…
