Blasphemous Rumours / Somebody This is the first of several double sided releases. On one side, Blasphemous Rumours takes on suicide, a no-no for pop radio subject matter. DM still pull it off. They pull it off with scissors, pots and pans, a metal fence, and a bicycle wheel. What's the connection?…A song with an atmosphere that simulates a household environment, perhaps a garage sale even, but more importantly, a song that hits home. On the other side, Somebody still gets the girls wet after all these years. This is THE Depeche Mode ballad complete with Martin, Alan, a passing ship, a playground, and a looping heartbeat. So fellas, if you want to see some panties fly, make sure you have this one playing. Both these videos are pretty straightforward. Blasphemous is a performance video mixed with images of the aforementioned objects in concert with the song. Somebody lets Martin take the lead while the water flows, which subliminally cues women to get wet. I'm not making this up. See for yourself.
